DUE TO the switch to the euro, many banking functions will be limited, especially on the night from December 31 to January 1. 

The most significant are the restrictions on card payments, which is why the banks have already sent an appeal to citizens to prepare cash for New Year's Eve and night. All banks will have an interruption in the operation of cards, but how long this interruption will last depends on which bank you are at. 

In some banks, the cards will not work for hours, and in others only for a few minutes. Here's an overview.

Zagrebačka banka

Zagrebačka banka has informed its users that due to the technical adjustment of the system to the euro, it will not be possible to use debit and credit cards and Zaba ATMs from Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:55 p.m. until Sunday, January 1, 2023 during the night hours. The bank recommended to users that "for payments during the New Year's weekend, stock up on cash sufficient for their needs in advance".

"Clients will not be able to use the Bank's debit and credit cards for individual and business users from Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 10:55 p.m. until Sunday, January 1, 2023, during the night hours.

Card payments on the Internet, which must be confirmed with an m-token, will be possible from the afternoon of January 1, 2023, when online banking becomes available.

Protected income account users will not be able to use their cards from Saturday 31 December 2022 at 22:55 until Sunday 1 January 2023 in the afternoon.

Business users of Visa Business debit cards will not be able to use their cards from Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:55 p.m. until Sunday, January 1, 2023 in the afternoon," Zaba said. 

Privredna banka Zagreb

Privredna banka Zagreb has informed users that the cards will not work from 11 pm on December 31 until 1 am or 4 am, depending on the card. 

Thus, PBZ Visa debit cards for citizens will have a temporary interruption in operation from 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023.

The PBZ Visa Business Classic debit card for business entities will have limited use from 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023 to 4:00 a.m. on January 2, 2023 up to the amount of 100 euros per day including ATMs and EFTPOS devices and payments at online points of sale.

The PBZ Visa Inspire Sticker card will be temporarily discontinued from 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 until 4:00 a.m. on January 2, 2023.

PBZ Card Premium Visa cards will be temporarily suspended from 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 to 1:00 a.m. on January 2, 2023.

PBZ Mastercard credit cards (charge/revolving) will be temporarily suspended from 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023. The limited use of cards at certain points of sale will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. 00:00 on December 31, 2022.

Regarding payments at online points of sale, the temporary suspension of the use of PBZ cards will be from 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023. The temporary suspension of the use of authentication services for online payments will be for #withKEY from 9:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022 to 4:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023 and for MyWay mToken from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on January 1, 2023.

Erste Bank

Erste Bank announces that the use of the bank's cards at ATMs and points of sale in Croatia and abroad (this also applies to cards connected to payment applications) will be limited on the night of December 31, 2022. on 1.1.2023.

Also, until the afternoon of January 2, you will not be able to confirm online purchases with mToken, i.e. pay cards at online retailers that use 3D payment standards," the bank told its customers. 

Erste Bank does not specify the approximate hours during which the cards will be temporarily unavailable, they only state that it is New Year's Eve. 

George, KEKS Pay, the Erste SMS service and payment services of other providers (PSD2 API) will not be available from 18:00 on 12/31/2022. until the afternoon of January 2, 2023. Due to the unavailability of George, then you will not be able to confirm online purchases with mToken or pay with cards at online retailers that use 3D payment standards, bank orders. 

Raiffeisen bank

Raiffeisen banka also does not specify the hour when its cards will not be available. 

They only state that "on Saturday, December 31, 2022, from the late evening hours until the morning hours of January 1, 2023, occasional interruptions in card transactions, including transactions at ATMs, are possible."

As for online banking, Raiffeisen tells users to make all payments to other banks by Thursday, December 29 by 3 p.m. December 30, we will also execute them, but with possible delays. Payments within the RBA will be possible until 6 p.m. on December 30," the bank states. 

"On Friday, December 30, 2022, from 8 p.m. until December 31, until 11:30 p.m., my RBA application will be available to you exclusively for online payment authorization. Other functionalities will be available again from January 2, 2023. During this period, we will the conversion process so that in the new year you will be greeted with euros instead of kuna," the bank states. 

OTP Bank

OTP banka states that all cards of that bank will be issued during the entire period of the transition to the euro system, except for a few minutes around midnight when entering New Year's Day. The break, they note, will be on December 31, 2022 from 11:55 p.m. to January 1, 2023 at 12:05 a.m.).

As for internet and mobile banking, they state that these services will be fully functional until 30/12/2022 (Friday) until 19:00 when they stop working, and are available again from Monday, 2/1/2023 from 8:00 .

Croatian Post Bank

Hrvatska poštanska banka announced that card payments will be possible with a short-term interruption on the night of January 1, 2023. mHPB and internet banking will not be available on Saturday, December 31 and Sunday, January 1.
